Original California black plates. According to Chrysler archives the 1965 Chrysler Crown Imperial Coupe 2 Door Hard Top model was introduced September 30, 1964. This was last year for the mostly hand fitted Crown Imperial models. Reportedly, only 3974 of 1965 Crown Imperial Coupe models were mostly hand built. They won "The Robert Anderson Design Award" for 1965. This California model, has factory windowed rear quarter panels. The 5075 pound Coupes were the last hand built Imperials. All steel bodies on a 129 Inch wheel bases with factory cast iron, overhead valve, 340 hp wedge V/8, engines & Torque Flight automatic transmission.
